Activism is the New Laundry
Face up to upheaval on a schedule…
Each week I email a loose network of friends and family with a civic thing to do, a wicked public act to thwart, and an organization to explore. I call the email “Activism is the New Laundry” to encourage folks to engage in civic life as routinely, and as reliably, as they wash clothes. You can get it by entering your address in the box on the right.
This email grew from a weekly message I started sending friends and relatives in late 2016, which grew over sixfold via opt-ins during 2017. I suspended it in 2022 and think perhaps I acted hastily.
Since 2017, I’ve helped lead the New York City team for Sister District, a nationwide organization marshaling support from other states for Democratic contenders in close state legislative races. I’ve written the team’s emails, newsletters and talking points as we’ve powered flips of chambers in Virginia and Pennsylvania. I write our team’s newsletter, The Blue Comes Through.
Elsewhere, I helped rewrite the website content for East End Temple, my congregation, and I coach activists and advocates on storytelling and language.
